Graham started his refereeing career in August 1980 and six years later progressed to become a national list referee. His career continued to climb as he became a premiership ref in August 1991 and it began to rocket as the years saw Graham achieve new and higher standing as a ref: Aug 1993 Fifa Referee and in January 1996 he was added to the Elite List of UEFA Referees.
